SENSUS        Roots/Dresser       Badger Meter

    • Roots / Dresser Meters
For almost a century, Root's Meters have been used for billing of commercial and industrial gas loads. Accuracy, dependability, and low maintenance are of key importance in custody transfer measurement applications. The time-proven Roots meter is the preferred rotary positive displacement meter in distribution, transmission, and production segments for accurate measurement of gas from the well to the burner.

The Roots Series B3 line of gas meters have capacity ratings from 800 CFH to 56,000 CFH with a maximum operating pressure rating of 175 PSIG. Models 8C through 2M are available with a 200 PSIG rating upon request. The five smallest sizes (8C through 3M) have 2" flanged connections, and 6" flange-to-flange dimension. If application requirements change, this unique feature allows a quick and easy meter exchange without the need to re-pipe the meter set. All series B meters utilize the versatile Series 3 accessories.

Series B3-HPC high pressure cartridge rotary meters employ the same positive displacement operating principle where gas volumes are displaced by two figure 8 impellers rotating in a chamber of known volume. Capacities from 1000 to 3000 scfh, pressure rating to 1480 psig, and ANSI 600 raised face flanges (ANSI 300 raised face flanges optional). The measuring cartridges are field replaceable and interchangeable as needs change.

Roots special service meters (Type SSM) are continuous duty meters for measurement of gases where entrained liquids may be present and where the gas being measured may have a corrosive effect on some of the materials employed in meters of standard construction. Typical applications would be in a production pipeline with sour, wet gases or, in a sewage treatment plant to measure gases produced by a sludge digester. Stainless steel and hard-coated aluminum components are throughout.

All Roots meters available in counter only versions, with options of temperature compensation, instrument drives, and pulser (contact closure representing volume data) ready.
